Isogeometric Analysis (IGA) has been developed in the last few years and permits the integration of analysis methods within CAD tools and vice-versa. As the time from design to analysis is significantly reduced, IGA leads to reduce the computational cost. It is promising for the solution of fracture and structural problems in general with added-on advantages respect to other numerical methods such as use of the interpolation functions provided by the computer-aided design or straightforward higher order integration.
